I am one of the three District Councillors covering Histon, Impington, Orchard Park and Kings Meadow. I was elected in May 2018 and was delighted to be one of many new councillors whose election helped to win Lib Dem control of South Cambs.
I’ve lived in Histon with my family since 2008. I have had a long career in software engineering working for local and international firms, and currently work in the village. Maintaining South Cambridgeshire’s position as a leading area for hi-tech industry is paramount to the ongoing success of the region.
As a parent of young children, I know that our ward is a great place for families, and I’m very keen to ensure we keep it that way by continuing to have high quality schools, enhanced recreational facilities, and improved & greener transport options. Bringing up a child with learning difficulties has a given me a particular interest in special needs education and social care for vulnerable members of society.
I am very concerned about the impact of Brexit on our region, as it affects so many individuals and families in very personal and potentially disrupting ways. In my spare time I campaign to ensure that any Brexit arrangement is brought to the people for their approval before the drastic and perhaps irreversible step of leaving the EU is made.
